Transformative Force

The transformative force of modern technologies is already shaping our society and our businesses in previously unforeseen ways. In addition, many new technological advancements are on the horizon. Smart buildings and smart cities, autonomous electronically powered vehicles, advancements in renewable energy sources, biodegradable materials, artificial intelligence with its many uses and a lot more. Creating a circular economy, should focus on regenerative design. And any such design should minimize the use of natural resources and maximize their potential by recycling the re-usable components of products, thereby keeping them longer in the economic process.

Linear Economy

We are living in a world driven by a linear economy. Natural resources are obtained, turned into products and discarded as waste, often after limited time and use. This approach, which treats waste as a design flaw, is creating mounting pressure on our natural environment. Unfortunately, it is via this approach that humanity has achieved enormous economic growth for a very long time now. Our businesses and societies are built in a way totally dependent on this model. Changing it in a way that is more sustainable is a big challenge.

Nowadays it is becoming clear that economic growth without an environmental and societal perspective is unsustainable. The earth’s supply of natural resources is finite and the pressure that environmental change and globalization is exerting in our societies is immense.
